I hope you enjoyed the review of the Calaham block.  I think it is one of the better reviews I have done.

It has always surprised me that their is so much controversy over upgrading the block on strats.  It is really just a tone verses materials issue and that should not be a challenging concept for a musician.  Nobody argues that some woods sound better or at least different than others.

Another cool thing about the Calaham block is the design of the saddles.  While they look the same, they are subtly repositioned and the length has been changed.  Then has reduced string breakage and helps with tuning issues.

I think two very important areas on the guitar are the  bridge and the nut.  Materials and setup of these two areas are critical to preserving your tone.  Something I like to distinguish between are changing your guitars tone and preserving your tone.  Tone loss or tone suck --- places where the sound does not transfer properly and is lost reducing sustain and frequency response.    The guitar bridge and nut are sensitive in this regard.  Your bridge must be setup properly to preserve the tone passing through it.

I have a standard schaller bridge and tailpiece on my beloved Heritage CM 140 2nd edition (Les Paul).  I look forward to comparing it to a tone pros vintage style ABR style Gibson setup in the future.
